1. Howrah Bridge



Howrah bridge is the most famous place of Kolkata which was opened to the public in 1943. It was made by Braithwaite Burn Jessop Construction Company Limited. It was made of 2600 tons of steel and 18200 tons of high tensile. It is built over Hooghly River and is of 705 m length with 82 m height.

It is also known as Rabindra Setu. One lakh vehicle is running here on daily basis. If you are standing at Howrah station and want to reach Howrah Bridge you can take a bus, or a car on rent or can walk to the bridge. 


2. Victoria Memorial

It is one of the most beautiful and attractive places of Kolkata. It is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It is made of white marble for the honour of Queen Victoria of England. Today it is turned into a museum that has 25 galleries.

Queen Victoria had become famous after the revolt of 1857. She died in 1901. The place is one of the most important landmarks in Kolkata. If you want to enjoy your visit you will have to visit between October to March when the weather of the city is very pleasant.

3. Science City Kolkata

Goddess Kali’s idol is made of black stone with three eyes. This 200-year-old Maa Kali temple is an embodiment of the principles of divine knowledge. Its transcendental divinity leads to Moksha of the worshippers.


5. Chinese Kali Mandir



If you think only Indians pray God and they are devotees of Goddess Kali, then you are wrong. Chinese people also worship Goddess Kali and offer prasad on Saturday night. So, we can say that religion is not bounded by any barriers. The positivity of the religion is spread all over the world. 


6. Dakshineshwar Kali Temple

There is a story behind the construction of this Kali temple. Once a devotee dreamt of Goddess Kali and the goddess ordered him to construct the temple.

It is situated on the bank of river Hoogly. It was made in early 19th century. It has three-story building. It is very famous among the Devotees of the Goddess. 


7. Mother House 

The Mother House was set up by great Catholic Saint Mother Teresa, who dedicated her whole life to serve the people in need in 1950. The visiting hour of this place is between 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and then gain on the same day between 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

It is closed on Thursdays and the entry to it is free of cost. It is a congregation formed by Catholic religious Saints known as Sisters who selflessly devote their life to serve the poor and needy. Its main goal is to give medicine to sick, the poor orphans and provide education to children. It has numerous branches all around the globe.


8. Sundarbans



It is considered to be among the most popular places for tourists to visit in Kolkata. It is one of world’s largest delta which is formed by the conflux of Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers. The natural beauty of Sundarbans is worth seeing.

It spread over Bangladesh’s Baleshwar River to Hooghly River in West Bengal. It houses different species of flora and fauna and has been categorized as world’s largest mangrove forests.  


9. Rabindra Sarovar

It is a Mansion in North Kolkata. It has 13 rooms which are airy and spacious. The palace is a home to a Zoo with very rare animals and birds.
